Let's meet
If we think your location and retail offer is a good fit for the Post Office we'll arrange to meet you. It's an opportunity for you to find out more about running a Post Office, and for us to learn more about you and your store.
We can discuss how you'd integrate a Post Office with your business and make the most of the opportunity.

your business plan
If you want to go ahead, you'll need to complete a business plan. We'll send a link for you to do this online. Before starting the business plan it's worth spending some time getting the documents ready.
You’ll need to submit the business plan, plus scanned copies of supporting documents within 28 days of opening the link.
We will ask for your consent to carry out some standard security checks and credit checks.

We'll get in touch with you with any questions, and you'll be advised if you've been successful shortly afterwards.
From this point and until you're open for business you’ll be looked after by a dedicated support advisor.
Making it formal
We'll send you a contract to sign, and other information about your appointment.
Public consultation
(if required)
If we're moving a Post Office from its current location into your store, the move will require a public consultation. This lasts for six weeks and local customers will be interested in the planned change. We'll organise everything including press releases.

There'll be a series of site meetings with you, to plan and design the Post Office layout for your store.
Installing your new branch and open for business
Fitting the Post Office counter, signage etc takes 1-2 weeks, depending on what other changes you may need to make to your shop.
Training
We'll train you and your staff, and a business support manager will be on hand for your first six months; ongoing support is readily available online, by phone and during area manager visits, and we offer refresher courses too.
Marketing
We'd like you to promote your business and its new Post Office, particularly on social media. Our marketing team will provide you with leaflets to distribute, and the Post Office press team will issue a press release about the opening.
